Gene says: I may have to ease up on my distain of Home Owners' Associations
HOAs have a habit of being defined by the two F's, namely Fees and Fascism. Here Barcelona, Spain, where Fascism reigned for decades, there are a couple blocks of individualism of the dysfunctional variety. A few blocks of Passeig de Gracia (Passing of Grace, aka Block of Discord), there are some examples that remind me of a phrase used to describe the architecture of San Diego State when I was attending: "Early Erector Set".

ReplyDeleteI love the whimsy of spanish architecture as well. It explains Dali and Picasso so well. They are some wild and crazy folks.
I think the ones with the arched balconies are Gaudi. His work is all over the city. I like the mixture of styles, myself.
